Home > Cadet Programs > Why Join?
The mission of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps is, “through organization and cooperation
with the Department of the Navy, to encourage and aid American youth to develop,
train them in seagoing skills, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance
and kindred virtues."
Massachusetts Bay Division, one of 300 Sea Cadet units nationwide, offers teenagers
unique opportunities – such as wearing the Navy’s uniform, earning rank, developing
into a leader, and participating in awesome military training without actually being
in or committing to the military. Because we’re a private, non-profit youth program,
you’ll never be pressured to join the armed forces.
Joining the program can give you these and other benefits:
- Meet new friends with the same interests as you,
- Train with active duty Navy and Coast Guard units,
- Develop leadership skills and build confidence in your abilities,
- Prepare for college by joining a unique and highly valuable extra-curricular activity. Learn More.
