At a military ceremony at Integrated Support Command Boston on September 14, Massachusetts Bay Division officially became the newest commissioned unit in the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. With over 125 guests, 25 cadets and several volunteers, a full house saw representatives from the Navy League Council, the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and the U.S. Coast Guard come together to commission the unit.
During the ceremony, the official commissioning warrant was presented by Mrs. Genevieve Guimond and Mr. Harold Learson, representing the Navy League. LTJG Landry (Unit CO) and LCDR David Carchia (New England Regional Director) received on behalf of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and Cmdr. Jon Heller, U.S. Coast Guard received on behalf of the Integrated Support Command Boston (the sponsoring military installation).
Mr. Learson, who serves as the President of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps Foundation and LTJG Landry each offered remarks. Cmdr. Heller delivered the principal address.
After the ceremony, and in accordance with military tradition, the most senior member of the unit (LTJG Matt Landry) and the most junior member (Seaman Recruit Andrew McKinnies) cut the cake!
