USS Sampson Commissioning

BOSTON, MA.- Several cadets from Massachusetts Bay Division joined shipmates of other units for the commissioning of the U.S. Navy's newest destroyer on Saturday, November 3.

The USS SAMPSON (DDG 102), named for RADM William Sampson (1840-1902), is nearly 510 feet long and displaces 9,300 tons.  It is the first ship to be commissioned in Boston since the USS PREBLE in 2002.
